Ask yourself: What happens if the machine breaks down for two weeks? If that delays an order and costs you money, you’re in Scenario B or C. If it’s just a hobby delay, you’re in A.

Second: What’s your average order value? Under $500? That’s probably Scenario A. Over $2,000? You’re already in B territory. Over $10,000? You’re in C.

Third: How much time can you dedicate to learning? A lot? A is fine. Very little? Skip A and go to B or C with a service plan.

So, bottom line: don’t buy the cheapest machine you can find, and don’t buy the most expensive one because someone online said so. Buy the one that matches where you are and where you’re heading. That’s the only rule that’s ever worked for me.
